The Exodus Ranch in Douglasville, will be holding our 2nd annual foster fun day! This day is a free day of fun for Foster children and their foster families, in the Douglas, Carroll and Paulding county area! Last year, we had over 300 in attendance! What a great day of fun it was! The children were able to enjoy pony/horse rides, games, bouncy houses, food, story telling and much more! The parents were treated to a day of respite with facials, hair cuts, manicures and a wonderful lunch! A great time was had by all! This day is to let Foster parents know how much we, as a community, appreciate them! It is also a day to love and encourage children who need it so badly.

The United States has one of the worst records among industrialized nations – losing on average between four and seven children every day to child abuse and neglect. A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds. The Percentage of children abused, is terrifying!

To put this in perspective: This would PACK 10 modern football stadiums…not with cheering fans, but with hurting children in need of love and a family. Many of these children end up in Foster Care. 40% of Foster children end up on the street and many in the sex trafficking industry. 1 in 4 end up in prison. These kids need our love, support and help in healing!

 

Click It Or Ticket, Border 2 Border

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the Georgia GOHS “Click It Or Ticket, Border 2 Border” campaign on Monday, May 22nd from 4pm – 8pm. This campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of always wearing your seat belt. According to GDOT‘s statistics released May 12th, there have already been 494 fatality accidents statewide this year, and of those fatalities 234 were unbuckled or not known if buckled. Please remember to always wear a seat belt! A road trip, routine commute, or a short drive to the store can change in an instant!

BOLO: Suspects Wanted in Power Washer Theft

Between April 21st and 24th, 2017 a theft of a trailer containing a pressure washer occurred at 475 Riverside Pkwy. On May 7th, 2017 another trailer containing a pressure washer was stolen from the same location. The above picture is a picture of the vehicle that stole the trailer on May 7th. From the video, it appears to possibly be a bright blue Mitsubishi Montero. Before the theft there was a white male seen walking around the fenced in lot.

If anyone can identify this vehicle or occupants or have had similar incidents please notify Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Inv. Jamie Fowler.

BOLO: Person Wanted in Connection with Stolen Credit Card Info

On March 26, 2017, at approximately 22:30, the unknown female above made two fraudulent transactions at the Stop N Shop (Citgo gas station) located at 3757 Kings HWY, Douglasville, GA 30135.  The unknown female used a credit card embossed with the credit card number belonging to Kingsway Baptist Church.

Any help in identifying this individual would be appreciated.  Reference case R1703494.

4 Juveniles Arrested for Possession of Marijuana and a 9mm Handgun at a Local Middle School

On April 26th, 2017 Deputy Ryan Quibell, the acting School Resource Officer at Chestnut Log Middle School, became involved in an investigation that resulted in a tip from an anonymous source that a student was in possession of a handgun. This tip was received late in the day just prior to the students being released for the day. A search by school officials revealed that a 14 year old male student did have in his possession a loaded 9mm handgun as well as an amount of marijuana packaged for sale as well as an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency. The juvenile was taken into custody at that time. Deputy Quibell continued the investigation the following day and learned that there were three other male juvenile students at the school that were involved with attempting to distribute the marijuana that was seized the day before. These four juveniles were also involved with distributing marijuana on at least one prior occasion to 4/26/2017. All four juveniles were arrested for numerous offenses including the possession of the handgun, possession of the handgun during a drug transaction, possessing the weapon on school grounds, use of a communications facility to further a drug crime, conspiracy to distribute marijuana on school grounds, and RICO. The names of the juveniles are being withheld because of their age.

WRTEN Meeting and Traffic Safety Checkpoint

Sheriff Tim Pounds and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office hosted the April meeting of the Western Regional Traffic Enforcement Network (WRTEN) last night. After the meeting, several different agencies including the Georgia State Patrol and the Douglasville Police Department conducted a traffic safety checkpoint at the exit ramp of I-20 at Lee Rd. Deputies and officers were primarily looking for impaired drivers, and there were several DUI arrests by the time the safety checkpoint wrapped up. We encourage everyone to designate a sober driver, buckle up, don’t text and drive, and keep it under the speed limit.

Winfred Floyd Has Been Located

Mr. Floyd has been located, and we would like to thank everyone who has helped search and who has shared his information.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the media assist us in the immediate distribution of a Mattie’s Call for a Winfred Bryson Floyd. Mr. Floyd is an 81 year old white male last seen in the area of Windy Valley Drive in Douglasville, Georgia on 4/24/2017 at approximately 2:00PM. Windy Valley Drive is in the heart of Douglas County located between the Highway 5 and Chapel Hill Road. His picture is attached. We are unaware of what he was wearing when he left the area that he was last seen and the picture attached is not what he was wearing at the time of his departure. Please be on the lookout for Mr. Floyd and contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 770-949-5656 with any sightings or information on the location of Mr. Floyd.

Large-Scale Drug Trafficking Organization Busted

In early February 2017, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division identified a major drug trafficking organization originating in Douglas County and operating in Douglas, Fulton, and Cobb Counties. Investigators identified multiple individuals, who were distributing trafficking amounts of Methamphetamine across the West Georgia region. As a result of this case, a large-scale operation has been dismantled. We estimate this organization is responsible for bringing and distributing in excess of 50lbs of methamphetamine in a two-month period.

On April 19-20, 2017, the Douglas County Sheriff’s office conducted raids/search warrants that produced multiple pounds of methamphetamine, marijuana, US currency and real property. This is an on-going investigation and more arrest/searches are forthcoming.

Sheriff Tim Pounds would like to thank the Georgia State Patrol, Fulton County Police Department, MCS (Marietta Cobb Smyrna task force), and all of our deputies and investigators who have worked tirelessly around the clock to help bring down this major drug organization distributing narcotics in our community.
