From the Villa Rica Police Department in reference to the murder investigation with Harold Dakers:

“On 11-8-22, Villa Rica Police were notified by a citizen that the murder suspect, Harold Dakers, was seen entering the woods near Villa Trace and N. Lassiter St. The officers entered the woods to begin a search and located Dakers next to a creek. Dakers pulled a handgun out and then began to run through the creek. The officers lost sight of Dakers due to a bend in the creek and then heard a gunshot. Dakers was found in the creek suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Dakers died as a result of the wound.
Douglas Co. S.O. was notified along with the Carroll Co Coroner. We are sad that this search ended this way but grateful that no one else was injured.”
