On January 24, 2018, Deputy Atkins with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office H.E.A.T. unit performed a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Tahoe for traffic violations. Once the vehicle was stopped Deputy Atkins recognized the passenger, Clint Dwayne Ayers, as a person known to possess and distribute Methamphetamine in and around Douglas County Georgia. Based on this information and the nervous behavior of Ayers, Deputy Atkin’s requested the assistance of a K-9 officer to perform a free air sniff of the vehicle. The free air sniff resulted in an indication by the K-9 on the presence of illegal narcotics. Approximately 1 pound of ice Methamphetamine was located under the passenger seat of Clint Ayers. Deputies on the scene of the traffic stop contacted the Douglas County S.I.D. Unit and they learned that Ayers had just left the residence of Michael Bryan Rochester. Investigators in S.I.D. had an open investigation on Rochester‘s residence because they had received an anonymous tip that he was possessing and distributing Methamphetamine in and around the Douglas County area. This led investigators to obtain a search warrant against Rochester‘s residence in Douglasville. A search of that residence and property netted the seizure of another approximately 1.6 pounds of Methamphetamine and amount of marijuana possessed with the intent to distribute, two handguns and approximately 25 Xanax tablets. Rochester also was in possession of two firearms as a convicted felon and doing so during a violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act. The total amount of Methamphetamine seized is approximately 40 ounces which is 40 times that of the trafficking amount and equivalent to 4500 street level dosages and a $100,000 street-level value.
A third subject, Valerie Hope Bennet, who was at the residence at the time the search warrant was executed, was found in possession of a small amount of Fentanyl and a syringe that was suspected of being a drug-related object. She was charged with the illegal possession of Fentanyl and possession of a drug-related object.
Clint Dewayne Ayers was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine.
Michael Brian Rochester was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance (Xanax), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during a violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, and possession of drug-related objects.
