The Douglas County Jail operates an Inmate Work Program designed to provide residents of Douglas County with a valuable resource at little cost to taxpayers. Inmates are given an opportunity to provide services to the community instead of simply being a tax burden on an already strained Criminal Justice System.
Inmates allowed to participate in the Inmate Work Program are thoroughly screened prior to acceptance and may not have any charge or history of violent behavior in order to be considered. The program is a winning combination for both the county and the inmates. The program operates under a strict set of rules and the hard work associated with the program is an excellent tool in rehabilitation.
The Douglas County Jail currently utilizes the services of over 125 inmates on a daily basis who perform work for:
Along with these assignments, inmate work crews are utilized at the jail for janitorial, kitchen, laundry, maintenance and grounds keeping. A new crew has recently been provided for the new Douglasville Police Headquarters for their janitorial needs as well.
Inmate Work Crews are utilized on a number of special projects for the county and city so watch the website for updates on their activities.
