Dep. Maxwell & K9 Saryk Retiring

K9 Saryk and Dep. Maxwell are both retiring from service from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office following a very successful career. Saryk came to us from Holland in October of 2015 and was paired with Dep. Maxwell to begin his training. After 16 weeks of training in South Carolina, the pair hit the streets and immediately began catching bad guys. Not only were the pair responsible for numerous criminal arrests and multiple pounds of drugs being taken off the street, but they also entertained hundreds of children and the public during numerous public demonstrations helping us to bridge the gap between the public and the Sheriff’s Office. Dep. Maxwell and Saryk were a valuable asset to the DCSO and will be deeply missed. Dep. Maxwell has chosen to pursue a career outside law enforcement, and we wish him well. Saryk is now retired and will live out his days as Dep. Maxwell’s loyal sidekick. He’s truly earned his retirement and all the belly rubs and treats that come along with it. We will truly miss this pair here at the DCSO and the community will miss their contributions to keeping our streets safe.
