Special Operations Division
The Special Operations Division of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is a specialized unit that operates 24/7, tasked with handling a variety of high-priority law enforcement duties. It encompasses several specialized sub-units designed to address specific challenges in maintaining public safety within the county.
UNITS IN THE DIVISION:

HEAT Unit (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic):
Focuses on reducing traffic-related incidents and targeting impaired drivers through DUI enforcement and traffic control.

NARCOTICS/VICE
This unit is primarily responsible for investigations involving organized crime, vice, narcotics, and the gathering, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence concerning unlawful activities.

K9 Unit:
This team supports patrols and investigations by utilizing trained dogs to detect narcotics, track suspects, and perform search-and-rescue operations.

Mobile Field Force
A specialized team dedicated to promoting safety and peace during large public gatherings or times of social tension.

SCORPION Unit:
A tactical team that deals with street-level crimes, particularly related to drugs and violent offenses.

Traffic Safety Unit:
Focuses on the enforcement of traffic laws and the investigation of vehicle accidents to promote road safety across the county.
