DARE

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to offer the D.A.R.E program to the students of Douglas County private schools.  D.A.R.E., short for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a nationally recognized curriculum authored by educators from across the country to offer resistance and decision-making strategies to our youth to help them make healthy choices for their future.  This curriculum is coming to all of the private elementary schools in the Douglas County School System at some time during this school year.  At present, the program will be taught to kindergarten through fifth grade.  However, our officers are trained in the D.A.R.E. Middle School curriculum, and we hope to include them in the coming school years.  There is also a high school and parent program.  Check with your school’s D.A.R.E. Officer for more information! For any general questions about the DARE program, please contact Dep. Michelle Austin at 678-486-1310.
