Court Services Division

Court Services twenty-four (24) sheriff’s deputies, and twenty-two (22) bailiffs.  The Court Services Division is primarily responsible for the security activities at the Douglas County Courthouse.  These activities consist of the physical screening of all visitors, and packages entering the building using metal detectors, and monitoring the surveillance cameras which cover the courthouse parking lots, courtrooms, and all interior areas inside the courthouse.
The deputies provide security for the judges and the courtrooms to ensure that all litigants, attorneys, court staff, and spectators conduct themselves properly.  Court Services must be alert, and ready always, to control unusual or unexpected circumstances in the courtroom.
Deputies are responsible for transporting in custody persons from the courthouse to the jail for court hearings.  Court Services staff is responsible for emergency evacuation of all persons within the courthouse in the event of an emergency while still maintaining order and safety.
Additionally, supervisory staff develops work schedules for the deputies and bailiffs to support all the court hearings, meetings, and functions that take place on the courthouse property.yt
