Douglas County Man Arrested in South Carolina

Recently, Investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office traveled to York County, South Carolina to pursue leads on a suspect. With the assistance of the York County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Investigators were able to secure search warrants for a residence on Kelly Road, where they recovered an overwhelming amount of evidence. Mr. Abraham Hardy, formerly of MacDuff Drive in Douglasville, Georgia, was arrested on multiple counts of aggravated child molestation and other charges originating in Douglas County. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office would like to recognize Sheriff Kevin Tolson and his staff, specifically Capt. C. Neely and Lt. J. Reed for their assistance in this matter.

Suspects Wanted in Motor Vehicle and Trailer Theft

On Thursday, January 23rd, 2020 between the hours of 2:00 am and 3:00 am, a green Dodge pick up truck and a Big Tex trailer were stolen from a N. Burnt Hickory Rd. Business. The suspects surveyed the area in a black sedan, prior to stealing the Dodge pick up, and Big Tex trailer inside the industrial complex. Mason Paul Gladhill, white male, 21 years of age, was last seen on November 11th, 2019 in Douglasville, Georgia, unknown clothing description. Suspects Wanted in Commercial Burglary

On Sunday, 11/23/2019, three suspects broke into the West Georgia Auto Brokers by breaking the front glass door. The suspects attempted to steal keys belonging to the vehicles but were unsuccessful. Man Arrested in Douglas County for Murder in Alabama

On January 15th, 2020, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Dothan (Alabama) Police Department with the apprehension of murder suspect, Marcus Hubbard and a search of Hubbard’s residence. Hubbard was wanted in the October 24, 2019 murder of Rodney Caliste that occurred in the city limits of Dothan, Alabama. Collaborative efforts made by members of the Dothan Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SERT) led to the successful arrest of Hubbard as he left his residence in Douglas County. Following the arrest of Hubbard, a search warrant was executed at his residence where illegal narcotics were located and appropriate charges were taken. Hubbard will face extradition to Alabama at the conclusion of charges pending in the Douglas County Judicial Circuit.

Holly Springs Elementary DARE Graduation

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate the Fifth Graders at Holly Springs Elementary for their completion of the DARE program. The ten-week DARE curriculum is aimed at teaching 5th Graders the dangers of drugs, as well as how to cope with negative outside influences such as bullies and stress. At the end of the semester, each student is asked to write an essay about what they learned from the DARE program. One student from each homeroom is chosen as a class winner based on their essay. Out of those students, a single overall school winner is chosen. That student will then participate in a “DARE Day” during the summer break of 2020. Previous outings have been to places such as Six Flags and other metro-Atlanta amusement-type parks. They then end the day with a pizza party at Chuck E. Cheese.
