The secure area behind the courthouse needed a little sprucing up after construction was completed. One of our trusty work crews was sent over with a load of gravel.

Operation Christmas 2019

It’s that time of year again! Registration is now open for Operation Christmas. Children enrolled in Douglas County schools and their younger siblings may once again receive a free Christmas gift through the generosity of the folks at Operation Christmas Douglas County. Among the fabulous gifts available this year are accessories for Wii, Xbox 360, Nintendo, and Playstation. Each registrant will also have a chance to receive one of over 200 donated bicycles in addition to their gift.

To qualify, children must reside in Douglas County and receive free or reduced price lunch. This is a community effort and is not sponsored by the school system.

To register for this opportunity, please visit the Douglas County School System’s website at dcssga.org. Parents can also register their children in person at the Douglas County Health Department at 6770 Selman Dr in Douglasville. The deadline to register is November 15.

 

 

Thank You For Your Service

Sheriff Tim Pounds and staff would like to thank Officer Zachary Geldmeier for his service with the Army National Guard. He was on active duty in Afghanistan when we held our pinning ceremony last November, and we are glad to have him back. Each veteran, both past and present, received a pin with their branch insignia in recognition of their service to this county. If you are a veteran, we would love to have you come work for us. Two Men Wanted for Gas Station Theft

On 9/3/2019, a blue 2005-2008 Dodge Magnum parked in front of the Texaco located at 6990 S. Sweetwater Road. Two masked black males entered the store with pry bars while the driver stayed in the car. Suspect Wanted for Tampering with Game Machine

Douglas County Sheriff’s Office needs your assistance in identifying the male that is seen in this photo. On September 8th, 2019 this male was inside the Exxon Station located at 10801 Veterans Memorial Highway in Lithia Springs where he was seen on camera playing on one of the game machines. The male then forced open the access door on the machine he was playing on and removed approximately $1872.00 in cash from the machine. The vehicle he was seen operating appears to be a maroon Nissan Maxima. LOCATED: Please Help Identify This Vehicle’s Owner

UPDATE (09/26/2019 @ 3:31pm): The owner of the Dodge truck wanted in connection with a theft from 84 Lumber has been located. Thank you to everyone who has shared this info and/or contacted us about this case.


On August 23rd, 2019 this Dodge Ram Truck pulling a double axle trailer entered the outside storage area of 84 Lumber located at 13390 Veterans Memorial Highway in Douglasville. The truck was seen leaving with approximately $1945.80 in siding that had not been paid for. The truck is black, with black wheels and black tool box.

Congratulations, New Deputies

Sheriff Tim Pounds and staff would like to congratulate Deputies Brittney Davis and Darrel Wright on their recent graduation from mandate. Deputy Davis has worked in our jail for the past six years and will be going to our Courthouse staff after she completes our FTO program. Deputy Wright has also been working in the jail for two years. He will be returning to work in the jail after completing our FTO program.

UPDATE (10/10/2019 @ 10:25am): Terry Walker was last seen on August 23rd, 2019 at Atlanta Medical Center. Terry has a diminished mental capacity. Terry does not have a phone, ID, Wallet, Cash, or vehicle. Terry was last seen leaving the Emergency room on foot and his location and status are unknown. Please contact Inv. Black if you have any information.


Terry Jochristi Walker, 39 years of age, was last seen on August 23rd, 2019 in Douglasville, Georgia. Terry was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue shorts, and brown house shoes. He is described as 5’8, 200lbs, black hair, and brown eyes.

Man Arrested for Theft

UPDATE (09/17/2019 @ 7:43am): This suspect has been identified and arrested. Thank you to everyone who has shared this information and/or contacted us about his identity. 


On 09/04/19 at approximately 10:30 am, this man backed his vehicle into the carport of this residence in Lithia Springs and made entry into an outbuilding on the property. If you recognize this person please contact Sgt Chuck Catlin at 678 486-1237 or by email at ccatlin@sheriff.douglas.ga.us.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office would like to acknowledge another recent retiree: Steve Sprouse. He has been with us through 4 sheriffs and with him goes a wealth of investigative knowledge. As he said at his retirement party, “It’s not so much as goodbye as see you later.”

Sheriff Pounds and staff would like to congratulate Sgt. Lipscomb on his promotion to Lieutenant. He will be moving to his new patrol shift Saturday night.

 

We’ll Miss You, Cindy Lou!

It is difficult to express the bond that some people make with those they work closely with for years. After 22 of those years, Cindy West has decided to hang up her uniform and move on to a new adventure called retirement. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office celebrates you, Cindy, for all you have given of yourself to this department, the community and the friends you have made along the way. Dream big, Cindy Lou. You will be missed but not forgotten.
