6th Annual Trunk or Treat

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Douglasville Police Department are teaming up once again for the annual Trunk or Treat at the Courthouse! The event will be held SUNDAY, October 29th from 4 – 8 pm. We will be handing out candy to kids under the age of 14.

This event draws thousands every year, and it keeps getting bigger! If anyone would like to donate store-bought candy or make a monetary contribution, they can stop by our lobby. We will take donations up until Oct. 29.

Welcome, New Jailers

Sheriff Tim Pounds and the staff at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office would like to welcome our three newest jailers: McKenzie Brown, Justin Roberts, and Erica Waters. Erica comes to us with years of dispatch experience with the goal of working towards becoming an Investigator. Justin’s goal is to move on to Patrol and ultimately become a K9 officer. McKenzie recently graduated high school and was in our Explorers program.

Demo at The Church at Chapelhill

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit would like to thank The Church at Chapelhill for their generous donation. The money will be put towards getting the K9s new leashes, harnesses, and other handling equipment. Our handlers also enjoyed spending the morning with a great group of kids, and we hope to come back soon!

Polar Patrol Artist

Congratulations to Jonathan Melchor, a student at Lithia Springs Elementary School. He was one of the many artists who helped design our Polar Patrol truck. His multi-colored lettering and inclusion of a stop sign on the back window were integral to the overall design. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all the artists who sent in their ideas!

Thank You, Heirway Christian Academy

We would like to thank Heirway Christian Academy for dropping off goodies this morning! It’s their tradition to provide snacks, drinks, and prayers to first responders on the anniversary of September 11th. However, this year Hurricane Irma had other ideas and postponed the kids’ trip a week. We are truly grateful for their generosity and sweetness.

New Boccie Ball Courts

Last week, one of our work crews assembled some Boccie ball courts for some very special Special Olympics athletes at Boundary Waters.

Congratulations, Lt. Camp

Last night, Lt. Brian Camp was presented with the Arthur M. Kaplan award. This was presented to him by the Atlanta Masonic Lodge for his contributions as a First Responder.
