WRTEN February Meeting Held at the DCSO

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office hosted the February meeting for the Western Region Traffic Enforcement Network which is sponsored by the Governors Office of Highway Safety.

Deer Lick Daddy Daughter Dance

The gymnasium at Deer Lick received some sprucing up for the Daddy & Daughter/Fairy Princess Ball on Feb 10th. Some of our inmates were on hand to string the lights and set up the prop pieces.

Threats Made Against Alexander High via Social Media

At approximately 2:30pm today the school resource officer at Alexander High School was notified of a potential threat at the school that was posted on a social media application. Through investigation it was determined that the threat was made by two juvenile suspects that attend the school. Both suspects were arrested and charged with felony terroristic threats against a school.

FIND Unit Apprehends Wanted Suspects

At approximately 4:00pm Thursday February 16, 2017 the Douglas County/Douglasville F.I.N.D. (Felony Interception Narcotics Detection) units observed a vehicle matching the description of a vehicle look out that was given out to surrounding law enforcement agencies that was involved in a crime in Union City, GA. The F.I.N.D. units stopped the vehicle without incident and detained two suspects. Both suspects were released into the custody of the Union City Police Department.

Winterfest 2017

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post competed the weekend of February 10-12, 2017 in Gatlinburg, TN. There were about 80 different law-enforcement agencies represented at this competition. There were departments from GA, AL, SC, NC, VA, LA, TN, and FL. Our Explorers competed in 7 different competitions. These are the results:

  • 1st Place: Drug ID
  • 4th Place: Written Exam
  • 11th Place: Suspicious Death
  • 26th Place: Active Shooter

 

Cemetery Clean-Up

One of our inmate work crews worked to clean up the Winn-Enterkin cemetery on Mann Rd. We have a crew work meet with the cemetery committee each Thursday. There are around 60 cemeteries within the county that our crews maintain.
