PRESS RELEASE: Second Search of Hunter Park area conducted for Missing Teacher Larry Bolen

On Thursday February 11, 2016, an organized team gathered at Hunter Park in Douglasville to conduct a follow up search for the missing 62 year old Douglas County teacher, Larry Bolen. Mr. Bolen was last seen by family in May of 2015 at his home in Douglasville. His vehicle was later found at Hunter Park several days later, unoccupied. Previous searches of this area during that time did not reveal any leads to Mr. Bolen's whereabouts. Over the months that followed, investigators continued communicating with family and the public trying to develop new leads. Several tips were received and leads were followed up on yielding no viable results.

This search under the command of Lieutenant Sharon Carroll and Sergeant Susan Sweat consisted of nearly 100 participants from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the Douglasville City Police Department, the Douglas County Fire Department as well as volunteers from several K-9 and Mounted Horse search and rescue teams from different areas of Georgia. The search took place over the course of the day where organized teams searched nearly 500 acres of wooded and open areas of property around the park. The decision was made at the end of the day that the search had covered all the best probable areas, sometimes even twice.

This search also did not yield any leads to Mr. Bolen's whereabouts and the case will remain open pending any new leads or information that arises. Again, any information on the whereabouts of Larry Bolen can be called into the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 770-942-2121.
