The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is looking missing juvenile for Leandra Renee Thompson. On August 14, 2015, Leandra Renee Thompson went to New Manchester High School and did not return home. Leandra Thompson is a 17 years old African American female, light skin about 5'10 and weighs approximately 130 pounds. Leandra has a medium sized tattoo of pinkish red stars and lips on her neck. She was last seen in the area of Fulton Industrial Boulevard. If you see Leandra, do not approach her. Call 911 and inform them that you have seen a Missing Child. In conjunction with other Georgia Sheriff's and Sheriff's across this great country, I am adding the motto "In God we trust" to assigned Sheriff's Office vehicles. No person assigned a vehicle will be required to have the motto on their vehicle and it will be strictly voluntary. These emblems will be paid for by me personally and no tax dollars will be used. May god bless this county and the United States of America.

PRESS RELEASE

United States Marshals SERFTF and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Warrant Division Arrest Five Violent Fugitives

The United States Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF) and the Douglas County Fugitive Division arrested a total of five violent fugitives in Douglas County.

Lafayette Bradly, Dennis Robinson, and Jeremy Caldwell all of Douglasville were arrested on Tuesday September 22, 2015. These subjects were wanted in connection with the shooting that took place at the Waffle House restaurant at 6133 Fairburn Road in Douglasville, GA on Saturday August 30th, 2015. Bradley was arrested at an address on McIntosh Road Douglasville, GA 30134. Caldwell and Robinson surrendered at an address on Lake Monroe Road Douglasville, GA 30135.

Joshua Gore and Melvin Evans were arrested at an address on Washington Drive in Douglasville, GA 30135. Joshua Gore of Austell, GA was arrested on warrants out of Cobb County for Failure to Appear and Burglary. Melvin Evans was arrested on Cobb County Warrants for Murder.

All subjects were arrested without incident.

PRESS RELEASE:
Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Douglasville Police Department Felony Interception Narcotics Detection Units (F.I.N.D. Unit) makes Seizures of Narcotics, Weapons, and Arrest of an Escaped Inmate on Interstate 20


The Felony Interception Narcotics Detection Units have made seizures of a vehicle, narcotics, weapons, and cash on Interstate 20 in Douglas County during the last two weeks of August.

On Friday August 14th at approximately 1:00pm the FIND units observed a 2007 Acura occupied by two male subjects commit a traffic violation on Interstate 20 westbound and stopped the vehicle. Upon further questioning and investigation the vehicle was searched and alerted on by a K-9 unit that revealed marijuana hidden in the gas door of the vehicle. Also found in the search of the vehicle was a quantity of Xanax pills sealed in a vacuum sealed bag.

Both subjects were arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule Four drugs with the intent to distribute, Possession of Marijuana less than one ounce, and Possession of Drug Related Objects


On Tuesday August 18, 2015 at approximately 4:30pm the Felony Interception Narcotics Detection Unit observed and conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Dodge Charger for a tag violation. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, Spencer Dudley, the deputy immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The driver then stated to the deputy that his driver's license was suspended. After confirming that the driver's license was suspended the driver was placed under arrest for driving on a suspended license and a subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. The deputy located a one pound bag of marijuana under the trunk liner in the rear of the vehicle.

Spencer Dudley was charged with Driving on Suspended License and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.


On Wednesday August 19th, 2015 at approximately 4:30pm the Felony Narcotics Interdiction Unit observed a Buick Sedan Interstate 20 commit a traffic violation of following to close that was occupied by a male subject and a female subject and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle.

When the deputy approached the driver of the vehicle the driver stated that he had no identification on him and said to the deputy that he was just out "Joy riding".

While interviewing the male subject he gave two different false names and two different dates of births to the deputy. Also while interviewing the female subject identified as Jaimmie Anne Cook of the Birmingham Alabama area she then gave a third name for the male subject.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed the male subject was actually identified as Raymond Coty Baker, an escapee from the Alabama Department of Corrections from the Childersburg Work release center.

The female had taken a relative's car without their permission and she had picked up Raymond Coty Baker on the side of the road around 12:00pm central time and then traveled to Georgia where they were stopped and taken into custody.

Raymond Coty Baker is currently awaiting extradition and the female Jaimmie Anne Cook was charged with hindering the apprehension of a felon.


On Tuesday August 25, 2015 the Felony Narcotics Interdiction Unit observed and stopped a 2011 Mercedes for an expired tag violation on Interstate 20. Upon contact with the driver of the vehicle he stated to the deputy that he did not have his license and was in route to a location to get it. The driver gave a name to the deputy and after further investigation it was determined that the driver had given a false name to the deputy and was identified as Todge Varsia Thurman. At this time Thurman was placed under arrest for giving a false name.

A K-9 unit was dispatched to the location and conducted a search of the vehicle where the K-9 made a positive alert. Upon searching the vehicle the deputy found Marijuana, a quantity of Oxycodone tablets, a quantity of Endocet tablets, Cocaine, drug related objects used for narcotics packaging and distribution, one handgun, one assault rifle with numerous magazines, additional ammunition and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Todge Varisa Thurman was charged with giving a false name, two charges for possession of the firearms during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a schedule one or two drug with the intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana, trafficking illegal drugs, possession of drug related objects, not having drugs in original container, driving on a suspended license, and driving with an expired tag.


On Wednesday August 26, 2015 at approximately 1:00pm the Felony Interdiction Narcotics Detection Unit observed and stopped a 2014 Hyundai for failure to maintain lane on Interstate 20. After speaking with the driver of the vehicle and obtaining his license the deputy identified the driver as Marlon D. Jones.

Upon further investigation of speaking with Jones it was determined that Jones had given false statements to the deputy. Jones was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and if he would consent to a search of the vehicle and Jones stated there was nothing illegal in the vehicle and that the vehicle could be searched.

During the search of the vehicle the deputy found four bundles of cocaine weighing approximately ten pounds wrapped tightly in cellophane.

Marlon D. Jones was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine.

PRESS RELEASE
Douglas County Sheriff's Office Arrested Subject for Seven Counts of Reckless Conduct of an HIV Person

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has arrested Jason Alexander Young for seven counts of reckless conduct of an HIV person for having intimate contact with females and not letting them know that he is HIV positive.
