Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Douglasville Police Department Felony Interception Narcotics Detection Units (F.I.N.D. Unit) makes Seizures of Narcotics, Weapons, and Arrest of an Escaped Inmate on Interstate 20

The Felony Interception Narcotics Detection Units have made seizures of a vehicle, narcotics, weapons, and cash on Interstate 20 in Douglas County during the last two weeks of August.

On Friday August 14th at approximately 1:00pm the FIND units observed a 2007 Acura occupied by two male subjects commit a traffic violation on Interstate 20 westbound and stopped the vehicle. Upon further questioning and investigation the vehicle was searched and alerted on by a K-9 unit that revealed marijuana hidden in the gas door of the vehicle. Also found in the search of the vehicle was a quantity of Xanax pills sealed in a vacuum sealed bag.

Both subjects were arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule Four drugs with the intent to distribute, Possession of Marijuana less than one ounce, and Possession of Drug Related Objects

On Tuesday August 18, 2015 at approximately 4:30pm the Felony Interception Narcotics Detection Unit observed and conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Dodge Charger for a tag violation. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, Spencer Dudley, the deputy immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The driver then stated to the deputy that his driver's license was suspended. After confirming that the driver's license was suspended the driver was placed under arrest for driving on a suspended license and a subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. The deputy located a one pound bag of marijuana under the trunk liner in the rear of the vehicle.

Spencer Dudley was charged with Driving on Suspended License and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute.

On Wednesday August 19th, 2015 at approximately 4:30pm the Felony Narcotics Interdiction Unit observed a Buick Sedan Interstate 20 commit a traffic violation of following to close that was occupied by a male subject and a female subject and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle.

When the deputy approached the driver of the vehicle the driver stated that he had no identification on him and said to the deputy that he was just out "Joy riding".

While interviewing the male subject he gave two different false names and two different dates of births to the deputy. Also while interviewing the female subject identified as Jaimmie Anne Cook of the Birmingham Alabama area she then gave a third name for the male subject.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed the male subject was actually identified as Raymond Coty Baker, an escapee from the Alabama Department of Corrections from the Childersburg Work release center.

The female had taken a relative's car without their permission and she had picked up Raymond Coty Baker on the side of the road around 12:00pm central time and then traveled to Georgia where they were stopped and taken into custody.

Raymond Coty Baker is currently awaiting extradition and the female Jaimmie Anne Cook was charged with hindering the apprehension of a felon.

On Tuesday August 25, 2015 the Felony Narcotics Interdiction Unit observed and stopped a 2011 Mercedes for an expired tag violation on Interstate 20. Upon contact with the driver of the vehicle he stated to the deputy that he did not have his license and was in route to a location to get it. The driver gave a name to the deputy and after further investigation it was determined that the driver had given a false name to the deputy and was identified as Todge Varsia Thurman. At this time Thurman was placed under arrest for giving a false name.

A K-9 unit was dispatched to the location and conducted a search of the vehicle where the K-9 made a positive alert. Upon searching the vehicle the deputy found Marijuana, a quantity of Oxycodone tablets, a quantity of Endocet tablets, Cocaine, drug related objects used for narcotics packaging and distribution, one handgun, one assault rifle with numerous magazines, additional ammunition and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Todge Varisa Thurman was charged with giving a false name, two charges for possession of the firearms during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a schedule one or two drug with the intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana, trafficking illegal drugs, possession of drug related objects, not having drugs in original container, driving on a suspended license, and driving with an expired tag.

On Wednesday August 26, 2015 at approximately 1:00pm the Felony Interdiction Narcotics Detection Unit observed and stopped a 2014 Hyundai for failure to maintain lane on Interstate 20. After speaking with the driver of the vehicle and obtaining his license the deputy identified the driver as Marlon D. Jones.

Upon further investigation of speaking with Jones it was determined that Jones had given false statements to the deputy. Jones was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle and if he would consent to a search of the vehicle and Jones stated there was nothing illegal in the vehicle and that the vehicle could be searched.

During the search of the vehicle the deputy found four bundles of cocaine weighing approximately ten pounds wrapped tightly in cellophane.

Marlon D. Jones was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Cocaine.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office Arrested Subject for Seven Counts of Reckless Conduct of an HIV Person

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has arrested Jason Alexander Young for seven counts of reckless conduct of an HIV person for having intimate contact with females and not letting them know that he is HIV positive.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has recovered property from approximately 30 cars that were broken into between July 16, 2015, and July 17, 2015 in the Nature's Point (Chapel Hill and Anneewakee) area. With all the recent safety concerns of meeting someone who is buying or selling items that are advertised online Sheriff Phil Miller and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office has reserved four designated parking spaces for citizens to use to meet and to complete your transaction in a safe environment.

The designated parking spaces are located in our parking lot at 8470 Earl D. Lee Boulevard in the first section of parking spaces on the right as you are coming into our main entrance. We recommend that you please arrange all meetings during daylight hours. Once you arrive and if needed you may contact our communications division at 770-949-5656 and notify them that you are conducting an online sales transaction and if you would like a deputy present to observe your transaction we will have one meet with you as soon as possible.

On the morning of 06/30/2015 at approximately 2:30am, two unknown male suspects broke into the Citgo at Hwy 78 and Old Beulah Rd in Lithia Springs. Both suspects are presumed to be black males. The first suspect was seen wearing a light-colored shirt, jeans, baseball hat, gloves, and covered his face. The second suspect was wearing a dark t-shirt, camouflage pants, and a "Sherpa" style knit hat.
