On March 26, 2015, the Georgia State House of Representatives passed House Resolution 568. This Resolution honored radio and traffic reporter legend Captain Herb Emory by naming a bridge in his honor. The location will be the newly redesigned intersection of Lee Rd and I-20 in Douglas County. Members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office as well as family, friends, and former coworkers were in attendance during the presentation of the Resolution. We would like to thank State Representatives Micah Gravely, Dustin Hightower, Michael Bruce, Kimberly Alexander, and LaDawn Jones for their work in putting together the Resolution. We were also joined by the Emma, Joseph, and Allisha Burnsworth of Winston, who happened to be visiting the State Capitol while we were there, as well as Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge. Details on the date for the on-site bridge dedication and official name will be forthcoming.
