New Jail & Law Enforcement Center

Sheriff Phil Miller announces the implementation of a news page on the Sheriff's Office web site. The daily news page is being developed to inform the citizens of activity in Douglas County. The page will contain articles of crimes, arrest, Sheriff's Office statistics, and other law enforcement related information. A "tip line" has also been established so that anyone can anonymously contact the Sheriff's Office with any information. Please remember that as with any new projects, there will be some mistakes. Please have patience with us as we develop this into a well organized method of informing the public.

Dear Friends:

Welcome to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Web site. This site was developed to make the most of Internet technology as a helpful and instructive tool for the people of Douglas   County.

It is an honor to serve as your sheriff, and I   sincerely want to thank each of you for the trust   and support you have given me throughout the years. Your input and suggestions are   important, and we will continue to be available to you, while working diligently to protect the   lives and property in Douglas      County.

I am a career law enforcement officer, born and   raised in Douglas County.   I knew early in life   that law enforcement was my calling after watching my father, Thad Miller; lead the Douglasville Police Department as Chief in the early 1970's.    My wonderful wife, Gloria, and I have called Douglas County home and are raising 2 children here, Josh and Whitney, while serving our community.

I understand the unique issues facing Douglas County and have worked diligently to address them. I will serve this county as your Sheriff and move forward with the many programs already in place, while bringing new ideas for the future.

As your sheriff, I am striving to provide the citizens of Douglas County with a safe place to live with professional, competent, and courteous law enforcement service. Our motto is to "serve and protect the citizens of Douglas County." You have a dedicated group of men and women in the Sheriff’s Office who work together to meet the challenges of day-to-day life in a growing and prosperous community. The public trust in our office is greatly appreciated and serves as a constant reminder of the tremendous responsibilities of our office.

We constantly try to use cost saving policies, which include the usage of inmate labor and utilization of state allocated funds, as well as the many other money saving procedures which allow the Sheriff’s Office to perform and operate at a cost significantly lower than surrounding counties.

I am glad you visited our Web site. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to call or e-mail us and we will respond promptly. Please visit again soon.

Sincerely,

Phil D. Miller
